Narrator: An Egyptian, the Ancient North African warrior who built an empire stretching from Northern Sudan to Western Iraq. (Show a scene of an Egyptian beheading a Nubian with a Khopesh)
A Mayan, the Ancient Mexican warrior who used obsidian and wood to kill for their gods. (Show a scene of a Mayan warrior plunging a Holkan into the chest of a rival Mayan)
Who...is...DEADLIEST?
Max: Today we have a matchup between pyramid builders over who is the deadlier warrior, the New Kingdom Egyptian or the Classic Period Mayan. Not only do we have metal weapons, but we have the obsidian weapons of the Mayans. It's gonna kick ass!
Egyptian Stats: Height: 5 foot 3 inches
Mayan Stats: Height: 5 foot 3 inches
Egyptian Weapons: Long Range: The Composite Bow was a bow made from wood and horn with enough power to rupture armor.
Mayan Weapons: Long Range: The Blowgun used by the Mayans was a hollowed out piece of bamboo that projected darts with wads of cotton added for fletching. The darts were sometimes poisoned, but they generally were not
Narrator: Fighting for the glory of Egypt is Gamal Hassan, a specialist in Ancient Combat, and Roger Green, a world class archer and expert on Egyptian warfare.
Gamal: The New Kingdom is really the period that the Egyptian warrior ruled the battlefields of the Middle East. Not only did they master the use of the chariot, but they were some of the first people in history to fight with iron weapons, a great advantage over most of their enemies.
Narrator: After the Pharaoh Ahmose drove the Canaanite Hyksos out of Egypt in 1550 BC, the Egyptians upgraded their army and within a century controlled most of the Eastern Mediterranean Coast from Turkey to Libya. Under the rule of Ramses II, the Egyptians won a pyhrric victory at Kadesh over the Hittites and strengthened their hold on Syria.
Roger: The Egyptian is a professional killer using metal weapons. The Mayan is gonna have his ass kicked, so i wonder why they're sending Fred Flintstone out against a more advanced opponent.
Narrator: Team Egyptian is confident of victory, but so is Team Mayan. Fighting for the Mayans are Diego Mester, a Mayan descendant, and Pablo Mijares, a world renowned master of the Blowgun.
Diego: The Mayans of the Classic Period are really the most aggressive of all the Mayan kingdoms.
Narrator: During the time of the Roman Empire, the Classic Period Mayans were engaged in a nearly constant civil war, not just for power, but for sacrifices to the gods. Fighting with obsidian and wood, the Mayans were able to control most of Yucatan, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, and El Salvador until their collapse at the handsof the Toltecs around the year 900 AD.
Pablo: The Mayan will just rip the Egyptian apart!
Egyptian: Khopesh
Mayan: War Club
The Egyptian takes the Edge thanks to the weakness of the Mayan's armor and the inability of the War Club to penetrate the Egyptian cuirass.
Egyptian: Spear
Mayan: Holkan
This batch is Even, because both weapons are incredibly lethal
Egyptian: Composite Bow
Mayan: Blowgun
The Composite Bow takes the Edge over the Blowgun thanks to a greater amount of lethality and accuracy.
Special Weapons:
Egyptian: Throwing Stick
Mayan: Battle Axe
The Battle Axe takes the Edge here because the Throwing Stick is hard to be accurate with, and deals less damage than the Battle Axe.
Max: We have our numbers, we've got all our data, let's run this thing!
Geoff: True enough, now to see who's the Deadliest Warrior: Egyptian, or Mayan
The full moon shed its light down on the dusty valley as an Egyptian soldier marched alone, his Spear and shield gripped tight in his hands as his bronze scale mail cuirass glinted in the light. On the other side of the valley a Mayan warrior began to walk along, his cotton armor wrapped tight around his stomach and legs as he carried both a Battle Axe and Holkan in his hands. Looking up, the Egyptian saw the Mayan, and he was reminded of his Nubian enemies. His mind burning with hate, the Egyptian picked up the Throwing Stick, and tossed it wildly at the Mayan. The Throwing Stick whistled through the air until it hit the Mayan's shoulder before falling to the ground. Wincing in pain, the Mayan looked down at the Throwing Stick, and was bewildered by the hieroglyphics that covered its surface. He picked it up and continued to look at it with bewilderment until the sting of an arrow made him drop the stick and notice the Egyptian, who was firing another arrow from the Composite Bow.
With a shout the Mayan hefted the Blowgun and began to fire a rapid succession of darts at the oncoming Egyptian, but only three darts hit the Egyptian's shield arm. Shrugging off the darts, the Egyptian fired one last arrow at the Mayan, hitting him in the waist before the Egyptian charged him with
